WeatherIt was founded by David Hassan and Mark Rizzuto, two leaders who believe that small, thoughtful improvements – applied consistently – can create meaningful change. With decades of experience across technology, travel, insurance and commercial strategy, they saw a clear opportunity to bring something genuinely useful to Australia’s outdoor experience economy.

The idea was simple: weather will always be unpredictable, but the financial impact doesn’t have to be. Extensive research with operators and consumers confirmed the same point over and over – weather protection should be simple, fair and built for the real world.

David’s background as a CTO across some of Australia’s most recognised travel, insurance and camping brands brings deep technical insight and operational discipline. Mark’s global experience in distribution and customer strategy adds a sharp commercial edge and an instinctive understanding of partner needs.

Together, they built WeatherIt – a platform that blends smart technology, official weather data and a partner-first mindset. It’s a smarter, simpler way for outdoor experience businesses to protect revenue, serve customers with confidence and grow sustainably, no matter what the skies decide to do.

David is the CEO, CTO and co-founder of WeatherIt, drawing on a career leading technology across some of Australia’s most recognised travel, insurance and camping organisations. Known for his lateral thinking and roll-up-the-sleeves approach, he specialises in turning complex problems into simple, scalable solutions.

At WeatherIt, David drives technology and product direction, shaping an AI-powered platform that turns weather risk into a seamless, revenue-generating opportunity for partners. His leadership has produced a system that integrates in minutes, automates claims and prices risk accurately using machine learning and official weather data.

David’s experience delivering large-scale digital transformation underpins WeatherIt’s focus on technology that works in real operational environments. His governance and advisory background brings discipline and long-range thinking to WeatherIt’s product and data strategy. Working closely with Mark, he ensures the platform’s innovation roadmap aligns with partner needs and market opportunities.

Based in Sydney, David is driven by a simple belief: people should feel confident planning outdoor experiences, and technology should make that possible – not more complicated.

Mark Rizzuto

CCO and co-founder

Mark is the CCO and co-founder of WeatherIt, driving the commercial vision behind a platform built to help outdoor experience providers manage weather risk with intelligence and simplicity. He believes technology creates its greatest value when guided by real customer insight – the core principle behind WeatherIt.

Mark has held C-suite and executive roles at Qantas, Travelport, Interglobe Enterprises, Helloworld, Virgin Australia and Livn. He has built high-performing sales and distribution networks across Asia Pacific and led major transformation efforts, grounding WeatherIt’s commercial strategy in the real pressures and possibilities partners face daily.

Recognised for his ability to educate and align stakeholders, Mark brings clarity to complex ideas and has spoken globally on customer behaviour, cost of sales and distribution strategy. His board roles – including Webjet (ASX-listed) and IGT Solutions – reflect his commitment to helping modern businesses scale with confidence.

A practical thinker with a commercial streak, Mark gives partners tools they can use immediately to simplify decisions and unlock new value. Based in Sydney with his family, he is focused on helping partners adopt smarter, more adaptive approaches as the outdoor experience economy evolves.
